Planning permission for 80 houses in Barnstaple

by colin

More success for Gleeson Developments Ltd as North Devon Planning Committee made the decision to approve the outline planning application for 80 new homes on the northern edge of Barnstaple.

The site lies directly to the north of North Devon Hospital and the outline application was locally controversial due to transport, landscape and local amenity issues. North Devon Council planning committee member councillor Joe Tucker said in his 12 years on the committee the application ranked as “one of the most difficult” he had to make a decision on.

The scheme had been designed and tested rigorously by the team of consultants with Richards Urban Design (Masterplanning and architecture), Planning Potential (Planning), Enderby Associates (Landscape), EAD (Ecology) and FMW(Transport).
