Draft SPD open for comments

by colin

The Draft Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) for a new mixed used development, including up to 2000 new homes and a country park, on the southern edge of Newbury was shared with the public at a community engagement event on Thursday 18th April at Newbury Rugby Club. The event was well attended and a range of views were expresssed including the need to protect the ancient woodland, manage light pollution and ensure that the proposals do not have a negative impact on the existing road network. Richards Urban Design have led on the masterplanning of this projet for the last 18 months and have been working with the Council, other consultants and key stakeholders to bring the site forward. A copy of the draft SDP can be seen on the West Berkshire Council web site here.
