North Stoneham Park, Eastleigh
We are currently working with Highwood, Eastleigh BC and Hampshire County Council in the preparation of a masterplan for land south of Chestnut Avenue, North Stoneham Park. The outline planning application was submitted to Eastleigh Borough Council in February 2015 for a high quality residential-led development of around 1,100 new homes with a wide range of exciting new community facilities that will create a vibrant and attractive extension to the town.
The long-awaited application follows a second public exhibition that was held in December and addressed questions raised by residents as to how the development would affect the local area.
The proposals will answer the demands for much-needed housing (including affordable homes and those that meet the needs of older residents), recreation and community facilities that exist in the area. A new primary school, nursery, care home, local shops, play facilities and an extension to Lakeside Country Park will ensure the new community can flourish with the needs of all ages accommodated.
To offset the development of the existing sports pitches and to cater for the future needs of the new community, high quality, modern leisure facilities are planned on land south of Junction 5 of the M27, including a new pavilion, floodlit all-weather football pitches, cricket squares and a new home for AFC Stoneham. New and improved football, rugby, hockey and other facilities, including a new clubhouse are also proposed at Trojans Sports Club in Stoneham Lane (subject to separate planning applications).
Working closely with county conservationists, the masterplan has paid considerable attention to the most historic areas of the site, including Avenue Park and The Shrine, and these will be preserved and enhanced to form part of a beautiful landscaped public open space and a ‘green infrastructure’ that includes footpaths to the new facilities and features that will safeguard the local ecology and the land’s habitats.
