Proposals for a new development in Calne have been shared with the local community for their feedback. Gleeson are proposing to submit a planning application comprising a care facility for the elderly and assisted living apartments with associated amenity space; residential development with associated parking and gardens, community orchards, allotments, and a large amount of open space and play space for public use within the scheme at Marden Farm later this year.

The proposed community development, ‘Marden Green’, would be accessed from Stockley Lane with a secondary access leading onto The Rise. Footpath links would provide access into the wider public footpath network and also to local services and facilities. Our evolving layout provides for a mix of two-,three- and four-bedroom homes with associated parking and gardens for each home plus assisted living units and a single storey Notaro care facility for the elderly.

Marden Green’s vision is to create high quality, stylish homes to meet a wide range of housing needs in the community – from growing young families to elderly residents requiring extra care and support.

It includes affordable homes for local people on waiting lists or trying to get their foot on the property ladder. These would be managed by a Registered Provider and available for part-ownership or affordable-rent.The Marden Green community would feature a mix of house sizes and styles to complement and reflect the town’s building vernacular and meet local people’s housing needs and demands.

There will also be attractive new landscaping features along the site boundaries and within the areas of open space. Existing hedgerows will be retained and enhanced where possible and integrated within the development to provide sustainable landscape features and ecological enhancements.
